St Teresa of Avila

The feast of St Terese of Avila is on 15th October, she is patron saint of sufferers of headaches and migraine, as she herself wrote about her own sufferings from migraine.

She is also patron saint of writers.  St Terese was an author of many spiritual writings and in 1970 was declared Doctor of the Church.  She was responsible for reforming the Carmelite and a great advocate for prayer to 'God our Father'.

Teresa had nine brothers and two sisters. Born in Avila in 1515, she died in Alba de Tormes, Spain, in October 1582 at the age of 67.
